Manche Designer hingegen m\u00f6chten diesen Font wegen seiner \u201e\u00dcber-Pr\u00e4senz\u201c am liebsten gar nicht mehr verwenden. Zum Gl\u00fcck gibt es mehr als nur eine Times-Alternative zu diesem Serifen-Klassiker.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Die Namensgleichheit ist kein Zufall: Stanley Morison entwickelte mit dem Grafiker Victor Lardent die Barock-Antiqua-Schrift f\u00fcr die britische Zeitung <em>The Times<\/em>, die bis dahin in der Schrift <strong>Times Old Roman<\/strong> gedruckt wurde<em>. <\/em>Die <strong>Times New Roman<\/strong> von Morison kam erstmals 1932 zum Einsatz und sicherte sich in den darauffolgenden Jahren den Klassiker-Status unter den Zeitungsschriften, auch wenn die <em>Times<\/em> selbst in den 1950er Jahren zu einem anderen Font wechselte. Zwei Jahre nach der Premiere in der <em>Times<\/em> erschienen auch die ersten B\u00fccher in der f\u00fcr lange Texte optimierten Schrift.<\/p>\n<p>Mit der Digitalisierung in den 1980ern steigerte der Font erheblich seinen Bekanntheitsgrad. Sp\u00e4testens seit Microsoft die Times New Roman als Standardschrift in sein Betriebssystem integrierte, ist nahezu jeder Computernutzer mit diesem Font in Ber\u00fchrung gekommen, und ein Gro\u00dfteil verwendet sie h\u00e4ufig. Auf dem Mac findet man den Klassiker als <strong>Times Roman<\/strong>, Linux kennt hier die <strong>Nimbus Roman No 9 L<\/strong> (s. u.).<\/p>\n<p>Mit der Massenverbreitung wurde auch der Wunsch nach Times-New-Roman-Alternativen st\u00e4rker &#8211; in erster Linie, um sich von der Masse abzusetzen und mit Individualit\u00e4t zu punkten. Wir haben die unserer Meinung nach sch\u00f6nsten Alternativen zusammengetragen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inhalt:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: -20px;\">\n<li><a href=\"#times_klone\">Times-Klone (nahezu identisch mit Times)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#times_alternativen_2\">Times-New-Roman-Alternativen (bedingt \u00e4hnlich, mit individueller Note)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#direkter_vergleich\">Times-New-Roman-Alternativen im direkten Vergleich<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"times_klone\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Times-Klone<\/h2>\n<p>Auch wenn jeder Designer ob des inflation\u00e4ren Gebrauchs der Times New Roman mit den Augen rollt, kann er sie nicht immer umgehen. Sollte der Kunde Times New Roman w\u00fcnschen, aus irgendeinem Grund jedoch das Original nicht genutzt werden k\u00f6nnen, finden sich einige Ersatz-Fonts. In dieser Hinsicht ist <strong>Nimbus Roman No 9 L<\/strong> unser Favorit.
